Fix For Crashes/Freezes
So after days and days of strolling through forums trying to find something I can do to make the game playable for me, I finally found something that worked.
Issue I was having was that the game was crashing/freezing every single MP round, during the Single Player campaign, during Zombies mode and even while watching
movies in theater mode.
I had fucked around with the config file at launch (thanks to ES' research) and it improved performance, but this finally fixed the crashes for me.
Go to your config file
Computer>Program Files>Steam>steamapps>common>call of duty black ops>players
There is 2 config files, one for single player and one for multiplayer, make the change on both.
Open the file (its a text file) Hit control F (opens up find box)
Find and replace the 1 with a 0 in : seta r_multiGpu "0"
Find and replace the 0 with a 1 in : seta r_multithreaded_device "1"
By default multiGpu is set to 1 and the other is set to 0.
Make sure you save your changes before closing the config file.
Only make these changes if you have been having the freeze/crashes like I have, multigpu means running more than 1 graphic card (average joe just uses 1). Multi_threaded device is your processor, most computers have dual core if not quad core at this point.
I have been able to play without the crash/freezes (still get lag spikes and directx errors or whatever but the game is finally playable for me).
Just wanted to pass on the info.
